The RSV4 Factory Looks Good but not really like the Racer that I have seen before, its a little tamer than I imagined it was going to be and I think they must have targeted the Fireblade as the model to beat, I must admit I thought they may have been a little bolder and gone further than they have with the styling.
Splitting the bike into parts:-
-The tank and seat design is Very Nice.
-The wheels - look good in black and are fantastic anyway.
-The Forks look fantastic as always, although I am still not a fan of the top yoke, I personally prefer the drilled ones.
-The fairing for me is too small and I don't like the current trend to make them as small as possible, I suppose its down watching those old GP bikes, but at least big fairings stop minor scrapes and alot of dirt getting on the engine making cleaning slightly easier.
-The Exhaust is a Shocker , owning a RSVR I am used to a big exhaust but I am sure they could have made it a bit smaller (Emissions Police don’t you admire them), I am told it doesn't look as bad in the flesh (I really hope so).
-I suppose the brake Discs could have been of the wavy variety as standard.
-The carbon bits look very classy, apart from the exhaust one, and I am surprised that the carbon leg protector doesn't follow the line of the frame.
-I'd be interested to find out whether the decision to go for a cable operated clutch was because they couldn't get the hydraulic one to work and this is a second rate back up plan or whether it actually works better in cable form.
-It would be nice to set the pegs back further and those hero blobs look out of place
-Are there two radiators behind the front wheel? Because the one at the tope has a bolt through it!
Does it come in Black /Blue / Grey or Silver instead of the red?
I suppose it really doesn’t matter what I have written anyway, I am still going to buy one , I have been waiting for a long time for this bike.

The new bike looks great! And what a time to go WSBK racing 2009! Aprilia are up against, The big 4 Japs & BMW & Ducati and i think MV will be there as well. What a year. I will be hoping to get the new RSV4 my self if the price is wright! If not its BMW for me! I am a regular at the Nurburgering and the full speck RSVR Factory is still one of the fastest bikes there as it can out do the Japs on every thing except top speed, the new V4 should fix that!! The BMW will be good to as it was born at the Ring! Hurry up 2009.

Hope Aprilia can bring this bike in at a decent price point. This article says it's "obvious" that the RSV4 will be north of a Factory Mille, which would put it around $18k-$19k. That's 3-4 grand too much IMO. Right now in the US the 1098 is the only decent non-jap supersport bike selling in the $15k range. Aprilia and KTM are going to have to find some savings if they want to take advantage of America's vast sportbike market. The BMW S1000RR is supposedly going to come in at a more reasonable price, but I'll believe that when I see it.

Have a 99 SP, millie,2 tuonos and I can't wait for the V4. Jap bikes are just cans with straight line power. An aprilia 250 in the mnts and twisties will put a busa or 14 down any day. Imagine what a 200 hp millie with full olins will do. I'll thke at least one. Bro John.

I also can't wait to see this V4 new in a street-legal sportbike though and I will happily plunk down the cash for one. . .and it will be great to see a full fledged Aprilia Factory team in the WSB series again (and the AMA hopefully. . .to join with Fast by Ferraci's MV Augusta team that is now competing in the AMA series)
I agree with many of the above points. . .and that owning a V-twin sportbike for the road is a bit "nostalgic" today, but I have to disagree when that is applied to the racing community. . .Ducati has dominated WSB racing lately and this against the "bigger" 1000cc I-4 Japanese bike and not just the previous 750's. It will be good to see the Aprilia competing against the I-4's with the kind of power the V4 is advertised as making. . .instead of just relying on all the expensive "standard" bits and lighter weight to offset the lower power production the European bikes have been making in the past to remain competitive!!!

Whatever happened to that bored out 1100cc version of the v60 that people were talking about a year ago? Haven't Aprilia missed a trick by presumably just waiting for the V4? The Ducati 1098 is surely going to steal a lot of sales from the current rsvr for the next couple of years.

I recently ordered an '07 RSV 1000 Factory, but learning about this new V4 makes me wonder when my new bike will be obsolete. I think it's about time that Aprilia tries to take some glory away from the Japanese 1000cc Superbikes. These days, having a V-Twin superbike is nostalgic, in a sense because the four cylinder Japanese bikes are so fast and powerful they leave Ducati and Aprilia behind. The European counterparts only have higher build quality to boast. I'd like to see an RSV 1000 Factory with this new V4 in the future, and even a Tuono Factory as well.

It'll be great to see Aprillia back in WSB, but with a full production version they're gonna have to take the Japs head on with their I4s adn that's a big ask. the current v60 occupies a niche to great effect and it would be a shame if development on that engine stops.
