Looks lovely. It's sorely tempting me to buy my first new bike (I'm 30 years on the road).
I hope the midrange power gulf is only noise/emissions thing and easily adjusted?
Small tank doesn't bother me as I would fit a 20l jerry can instead of pannier for overlanding. Panniers too wide and expensive so I would never fit them. Heated grips, handguards, crash bars and tank bag to complete. aileach.ie

I have not seen any specs for this bike apart from what I've read here
An 18 Litre fuel tank!!
They got to be kidding!!
Why on earth build a bike such as this with such a tiny tank (and range) on it. It will be a major put off to anyone thinking of buying one here in AUS. ANd I was.
If they can come up with an optional say 33litre tank (as BMW did with the GS1150) then I might be persuaded to have a second look.
A real pity and letdown, I can't understand what Moto Guzzi were thinking

Rode maxmoto demo yesterday, at last. very comfy, no wind blast or buffeting from screen (I'm 5ft 6ish) Reach to floor on low setting is just about manageable (29inch inside leg).handling is excellent, really light but also very stable no effort at all. With only 11 miles on the clock didn't give it too much stick. It does feel a little flat around the 3-4000 mark, gave it a little tease to about 5500rpm in 4th-6th and it does come alive showing 110mph no problem. Want another go to really make my mind up. Hopefully in better weather conditions, although it did stay dry, forthe test ride anyway.

I have just got a magazine from the local MG dealer, here in Singapore. It has a photo of the new Stelvio, and a couple of inches if text. They don't yet know the launch date and are not sure when they will take delivery of the 1st bikes, or even know what the price will be. You guys in the UK get it all! Perhaps I should move back there... but then again... I can ride up into the Cameron Highlands, watching the monkeys in the wild, spin over to Malacca for some R&R, not worry about my fingers being frost bitten, or slipping up on black ice... Hmmm. Perhaps I'll wait for the Asia to catch up after all. How does it ride?

well people its finally here and not before time, the long awaited roadtest in MCN and the video on You Tube. Pretty impressive I say, although it may not be a GS beater its certainly gonna be up there as THE alternative, a road bike with the appearance of a trailie.........tastes of the old TDM I reckon but better. Looks like I'll have to find a dealer to take my Capo in part-ex when it arrives.

I traded an 1150GS for a Breva which I think has a much better engine, it breaths much better and is smoother, and I no longer wince at every gear change. The Breva has a 200 mile tank range which I shall miss with the Stelvio, but never mind each fuel stop on a bike is a social experience anyway as complete strangers want to talk to you. As for distances try 845 miles in a day on a 999 with a tank range of about 90 when your knocking on.

Had a Quota and it was far more comfy than any of the BMW's. The Stelvio looks like a Quota with a bit of give. I agree the small tank is a bit daft - maybe they could make a larger tank an option?

Looks quirky in a positive way. Big v twin, should be top fun and it looks seriously cumfy. Can't wait to get a ride on one. A GS is not the B all for big miles. By the way me and a mate on a T595 and 900ss with full camping kit did Lausitz S- Bikes out fri aftnoon o/nite stop, then back on mon non stop 860 miles. Only real aches was sore knees. So gs (stelvio) bring it on.

Only a 18 ltr. tank! Don't the designers understand that people who buy this sort of bike want a 200 mile tank range before the fuel light comes on?

Had a Varadero myself Andrew and not a bad pice of kit to be honest. did the first Varadero UK gathering in 05 when a couple of dozen did the "Hard Knott Pass" in the wet, the Vara did the job without blinking an eye and no doubt the MG-S will do it as well.

Can't wait to have a go, shame I can't see it at NEC. Please enough talk about the BMW, if Charlie MacGregor and Ewan Boorman had chosen Varaderos we'd all be comparing the Stelvio with that instead (actually I've had 2 Varaderos and they are pretty good).

This bike has been long awaited and I for one will find a dealer close to us in Guernsey to get my leg over asap. I own an 06 Caponord and an 07 1200 GS Adventure and enjoy both but one will have to go when this beast hits the show rooms that for sure. The comment for the GS owner about the 2000mls is unfounded as the engine is just like the Norge, and those of us that have followed it know the trip they did with that bike to prove its distance covering capabilities. Motorcycle Sport & Leisure will be th mag to watch out for. As soon as they can get their hands on one to ride the writeup will be worth reading.
can't wait

The Stelvio looks great all round but i must reserve judgement on those bulbous front headlamps. They may grow on me. Cant understand the comments saying it wont do 2000 miles like a GS. Any modern bike now should easily achieve that without any problems. Whats different about this one?

It really looks the business. Having said that, I can't see it being a real threat to the 1200GS. I love my Italian bikes, but I also love my 1200GS Adventure. It's recently taken me to Tuscany and back, stopping only for fuel. Fully laden I rode first to Milan; 14 hours each way and clocked up 2200 miles in eight days. I would have loved to have ridden Italian, but Stelvio? Sorry mate - I think not!

What a machine - I've been waiting for someone to release a bike to compete against the BMW 1200GS for a more reasonable price - hopefully this is it! It looks great! Can't wait to hear how much they want for it - if it's around £7500-£8000 they'll sell them by the truck load! I'm going to have to get my name on the list ASAP.
