Moto Guzzi revealed its new Norge Tourer today at the Milan Motorcycle Show.

Taking the 1100 Breva engine, they've bored it out an extra 80cc to give the bike an extra 5% bhp and 10% more torque, endowing the Norge with the kind of engine characteristics well suited to a touring machine.

Chassis, suspension, wheels, gear ratios remain largely the same as the already competent Breva, which is all good news.

The big difference is that large new touring fairing with electrically adjustable screen, which was extensively tested in Guzzi's new wind tunnel giving it unsurpassed levels of touring comfort. Factory option Tom Tom navigation system should further de-stress long distance touring.

As can be seen in the photos, also new are ABS brakes.

Naturally, with the big fairing the Norge gains a little weight over the Breva taking it to 246Kg dry, but the rest of the dimensions (seat height, etc.) are little changed.

The 24 litre tank should provide a respectable range.

Availability is due in June 2006, but there's no news yet on price.

BMW's R1200RT and Honda's Pan European would seem to be in Moto Guzzi's sights here.

Norge 1200 GT. As T but with:
- Electrically adjustable windshield

- side mud guards at the back

Norge 1200 GTS. As GT but with:
- top case
- GPS navigation (Tom Tom Rider)
- Heated handgrips
- £10,199

Update 07/07/06. We now have a Norge on the demo fleet, so give us a call to book a test ride.

Update 07/05/07. The Norge has won the Grand Turismo section of the Bike of the Year 2007 in the prestigious Motociclismo magazine beating the likes of BMW's R1200RT and Yamaha's FJR1300AS.
